My Favorite Green Monster yet! (aka: Protein Packed PurpleCreamy Dreamy Shake)

Yay for being home and having a non-ancient blender! And a fully functional oven, but that's for a different post. ;)

Anyway, I bet you can guess what this post is about. The most amazing green monster of my green monster repertoire, thus far!

Okay, I lied - it's the best purple monster I've ever had.

Protein Packed Purple Creamy Dreamy Shake

* A handful or two of leafy greens, rinsed
* Sunwarrior vanilla protein powder (vegan!)
* A handful or two of blackberries, rinsed
* A handful of ice cubes
* Milk, to thin (or any kind of non-dairy milk, if you want to keep it vegan)

1) Combine. Blend until smooth.

This was the first Sunwarrior protein powder that I've ever tried (they sent me some samples and I tried their nommy Ormus Greens the other day) and I loved it! I'm glad NaNeFoMo came along, so that I got around to trying Sunwarrior - I've been wanting to for a while! Sunwarrior isn't super-cheap, but it is super healthy...

This flavor has fifteen grams of protein (!), is completely raw and vegan, and has 20% of your daily iron requirement - that's quite important for menstruating females, athletes, and veg*ns! It's made of:

  • Whole Brown Rice Protein
(Bio-Fermented Raw Sprouted Whole GrainBrown Rice Protein)
  • Vanilla
  • Pectin
  • Xanathan Gum
    (Natural Bio-Fermented Stabilizer)
  • Stevia

I like my ingredients lists short and sweet. :)

The xanthan gum in it was also awesome, because it made the smoothie thicker. It was sweet, creamy, and so delicious! Just like a raspberry vanilla ice cream shake. :)

Only it left me with way more energy than I'd have after drinking that, and sans the lactose-induced tummyache. :P

What's your favorite smoothie/shake combo?

What's your favorite berry?

What's one random thing you love about being home?

  1. I haven't made a lot of shakes actually. I wish I coould get into them more seriously. I made a few green monsters but I found myself wanting other things after because I was so hungry.

I love being home because I just don't have to do anything and can just relax. :)

  7. Oh so that's why the smoothies with that powder are always thick - xanthan gum! Haha I never realised and was always jealous of people's super awesomely thick smoothies. Might have to get my hands on xanthan gum, methinks :) Looks delicious by the way.
