Ulta KeraStraight (and foooood)

I barely ever go to the hairdresser.

I know, what? But I just don't. And so, over winter break (yea, this post is a wee bit overdue) I went to Ulta and...did the KeraStraight thingy!

I wasn't sure what to expect, but I was going to be pretty open-minded (even though it cost $215!).

My Before:

Then I let my bum mold into the hard plastic seat at Ulta for close to four hours, holding perfectly still (hard for such a long period of time). For the experience, I paid $215 (plus $15 in tips and $85 for shampoos & conditioners that wouldn't kill the treatment - because normal ones will).

Just kidding! I love it! If it weren't for the atrocious price (that's the only thing that's making me seriously consider whether or not I'll maintain it in the future).

My After:

So soft, swishy, and shiny!

It's seriously so soft that I want to pet myself on the head sometimes.

Kidding. Kind of.

And since I'm posting pics from winter break:

I always get so spoiled by how good food (and not just snack food) can be when I go home for break. Then I return to school and, well...

Have you ever tried KeraStraight?

What beauty stuff do you do (dye, shave, tweeze, make up, manicure, etc.)?

How much would you spend on your hair?

  1. Your hair looks pretty straight like that. I've never had that done because my hair is naturally straight. Although, it's started getting more wavy as I get older... who knows.

    1. It's over a month later and it's still so straight, soft, easy to take care of, and shiny! All I have to do is blowdry it :)

  2. You can definitely see the difference! I love the straight hair, but your curls add character too ^^

My hair is interesting in that it's straight but then gets wavy at the bottom (especially when I keep it long). It looks nice at times, but I hate it when it gets frizzy ><

    1. Haha, thanks. You're sweet. :) This definitely got rid of my frizz (I hate frizz). Indian hair is so lovely! Okay, that was a generalization - but it's all thick and gorgeous! :)

    1. Thanks, I love it, too! Do you have curly or wavy hair, naturally? And haha, no - I know I don't look presentable in those pics, but it's ok. :P

  5. Wow,you look so pretty with straight hair! <3 But curly hair suits you well, too!
I sometimes dye my hair because I don't like it when it's blonde. Although I dream of having big and soft and beautiful curls,I hesitate to use a curling iron - I'm too afraid of "destroying" my hair completely! :(

  6. I barely go either girl and I don't regret it in the slightest. I do love having curly hair because you can have that option of having straight or curly depending on your mood. Your hair looks awesome by the way! :)

  8. Hey, you look great in the shiny new hair. Personally, I think you look really cute in your curls. But I can understand why you wanted to get this done. I have wavy hair that gets really frizzy. In a moment of inspiration of ‘wanting to pet myself on the head’ :), I have gotten this done twice.

The second time was 2 years back. I spent an equivalent of 120 USD and another 20-30 for the ‘appropriate’ products (in India). The only reason I regret all those hours of sitting still with so much heat on my head is because…. Well, mine didn’t last even a fortnight!! What a waste of time & money it was for me. And then, my hair started falling at double the speed. There’s a story behind that, some other time..

(P.S. - Your blog refused to let me post comments from my wordpress username! The one I just posted on one of your old posts was after So Many Tries! Oh well, all’s well that ends well..)

    1. Oh no! I'm so glad that it's finally working for you. :)

And sheesh, that sucks! I've had it for about 1.5 months now and it's still almost as great as the first day - I'm loving it! :)

  9. I had a pre-consultation at Ulta last friday and I originally wanted a wavy perm (i have very curly non-african hair) but the lady said that I should consider getting Kerastraight/Brazilian Blowout since it would tame the frizz and make my curls beautiful as opposed to just [still frizzy] waves. And that also it would kind of relax my curls, and if I wanted to it would be so easy to straighten. In your experience is this true? What does you hair look like when its not straight..is it nice and silky in a curly way? thanks! \(^_^)/

    1. It is! I've been keeping up the treatment, despite the cost, because it's just fantastic for my hair - even when I don't straighten, it's a lot easier to deal with, way less frizzy, and has looser, more defined curls!
