Oh, wait. That's the company name. *Hand to forehead.* Can you tell that I've been doing a bit too much organic chemistry again?
But for good cause! My birthday is this Friday and I've declared it a national holiday!
Or, well, a holiday for me.
Sure, I'll go to lecture. But review sessions? Homework? Hahaha, that's so funny!
And so that I don't die an agonizing death (autopsy result: procrastination) on
Kein Problem! But it definitely means I need a heck lot of energy - tada! Chunks of Energy to the rescue! The timing on the box Dancing Star sent me couldn't have been any better.
Dancing Star makes these little (ORGANIC, RAW, SOY-FREE, VEGAN!) treats called Chunks of Energy. What are they? Pretty much just that. I got to try the Carob Spirulina and Carob Supergreens ones.
This is the Carob Spirulina (aka, my fave). I've never had spirulina before, so I can't really say whether or not you can taste the spirulina (all I know is that spirulina is one of those super-good-for-you super foods). What I can say is this: it was super sweet and flavorful, packed full of textures and like a more intense, condensed Lara bar. Only chocolaty. Like chocolate? But firmer. Still sticky, just not quite as sticky.
All around delicious!
For those of you who want to know what's in it, here's the complete list: Sunflower seeds, honey, carob powder, sesame seeds, crispy rice (rice flour, rice bran, raisin juice from concentrate, honey, sea salt), peanuts, apricots (may contain rice flour), pumpkin seeds, cashews, natural flavors (MSG-free & gluten-free), organic spirulina.
Yay! All stuff you can feel good about! And all stuff that's going to help me out in my pre-birthday intensity. ;)
This is Carob Supergreens. And no, you can't taste the vegetables. Instead, this is like a chewier version of the carob spirulina. And (I know I might be crazy) but this one tasted more mocha/espresso-ish while the above tasted more chocolaty. I guess that might be due to the flavor complexities of carob?
Ingredients: Organic carob powder, organic sunflower seeds, organic agave nectar, organic raisins, organic apricots (may contain organic rice flour), organic pumpkin seeds, organic cashews, organic crispy brown rice (rice flour, rice bran, raisin juice from concentrate, sea salt), organic green spirit mix (organic alfalfa grass, organic oat grass, organic barley grass, organic wheat grass, organic cracked cell chlorella, organic dulse, organic spinach, organic kale, organic parsley, organic dandelion leaf, organic broccoli, organic kamut sprouts, organic cilantro, organic beets, organic carrots, organic apples) organic pure vanilla extract (gluten free), organic orange pure extract (gluten free), organic spirulina.
I had some of each on a slice of bread - they were so intensely flavorful that they really worked well with just the plain bread!
And check out all the superfoods in those. This is how I like my snacks: amazingly good and amazingly good for me.
Not that I don't eat my fair share of not-so-healthy snacks. Health is in the balance! But if you're looking for that quick burst of good-for-you energy, these are pretty great.
I know some of you (especially international readers) see stuff that you want to try in my reviews sometimes, but then you don't know where to find it! Luckily you can order these online. And there are a whole bunch of other flavors!
Have you ever tried Spirulina?
Are you a March baby?
Are you a pre-procrastinator, like me? If I know I'm going to procrastinate at some point, I try to get work done ahead of time so that I don't freak out after the procrastination occurs. Then again...I should be doing work right now, not blogging!
Tata, my lovelies! :)
