Happy April, everyone!
And even better - happy Wednesday!
Wow, I used to think Wednesdays were a pretty icky day of the week, but I'm a fan now (not just because of WIAW, but it helps). Without further ado, some spring break eats (not having the meal plan for those few days when I was back on campus early - for ICKICKEWEW orgo midterm review - was awesome):
As always, this is not a comprehensive view of everything and anything that I ate. It's just an overview of the rough idea. Un-photographed eating happens. :)
(not) Reese's chia pudding! I've never had chia pudding before (or chia seeds, at all), so I was nervous...
...but unwarrantedly so! It was absolutely delicious and *such* a filling breakfast. Want the recipe? SOOOO good, SOOOO easy. Oatmeal is so last season. :P Especially when you top this tapioca pudding-esque bowl with frozen berries.
Aren't those the cutest? Whole Foods is awesome. Their prices? Not so much.
FAGE GREEK YOGURT, get in my stomach! I missed greek yogurt so bad.
And y'all know I love Quest Bars. Cinnamon roll didn't disappoint! Sweet, buttery goodness (but, as always, crazy awesome nutritional stats, like 20g of protein and 2g of sugar...BOOYA).
And that texture - nomnomnom to my chewy, chewy
My mom bought me yummy chocolate over break! I LOVE HER. Best mom ever.
I got some coupons to try Dr. Praeger's stuff, so I hurried over to Whole Foods (let's face it, I'll take any excuse thrown my way) and picked up a box of California Veggie Burgers. I wasn't really expecting much, because I've had veggie burgers at school and, quite frankly, I'm not a huge fan of those fake meats that don't really look or taste like anything.
If I wanted to eat meat, I would. The point is, I don't. I just don't like it.
This is SO not a meat wannabe, guys! Do you see all those veggies? I think the moment that I got really excited was when I opened the box and saw that the veggie burger was green.
PROUD TO BE GREEN, GUYS.
It's super juicy and flavorful and not at all meaty - sooooo much better! They also obviously knew what they were doing with the spices. This is the kind of crave-worthy veggie burger that carnivores will fight you for. Not kidding.
Anyone else find Amazing Grass addicting? Or is that just me?
CEREAL. On cottage cheese. 'Nuff said.
FROZEN BERRIES FOR THE WIN.
Wait - HOLD ON. That flavor doesn't exist. Right?
Except it does.
Gnu Foods just came out with three new flavors of Flavor&Fiber bars! And they were nice enough to let me try them! First up - Carrot Cake (yes, that sounds like a very good idea).
I like how all 8g of sugar are naturally occurring fruit sugars. Thanks for making a bar that's good for me!
AND DELICIOUS. It actually tastes like carrot cake. I didn't believe it, but then - oh YUM. The walnuts add that extra legitimacy.
TWO THUMBS UP.
I have no idea why I'm in such a capital letters kind of mood today. It must be all the good food. Sorry, guys! :P
Have you tried any of the three new Flavor & Fiber bars?
What's your relationship with Whole Foods?
Have you tried Dr. Praeger's?
ADDENDUM: You can buy Quest Bars through LLE!

I actually love Dr Praeger's veggieburgers! The texas one is delicious as well- a little Southwestern in flair (and not fakemeaty at all!) As for Whole Foods- I can spend FOREVER in there just gazing at all the amazing products- plus there is a massive 2-3 story one near my house with the best ready food bar ever; but I agree it is definitely on the pricy side- but there ARE hidden deals to be found. You should also pick up "The Whole Deal" catalogue at the checkout counter because they have loads of coupons in there for various products
ReplyDeleteI'll have the texas one, thanks! Oooh, *love* coupons :P
Deletei LOVE dr praegers burgers- they're the one veggie burger that makes me feel like i'm eating real food! and i also love to eat frozen berries plain- weird much? haha :)
ReplyDeleteIf it''s weird, at least we're both weird :)
DeleteThere is never a wrong reason to go to WF. The place is amazing! I haven't tried those veggie burgers yet, but I'm with ya on the real meat vs. fake meat sitch. A lot of fakes freak me out because they just taste way too close to the real thing!
ReplyDeleteI know! I don't want to wonder if I'm actually eating an animal's flesh!
DeleteI haven't tried the new Flavour bars but they sound awesome. I mostly haven't tried them because they aren't available around here. Lame.
ReplyDeleteOh, boo! Have you tried online?
DeleteYumyumyum, snack bars... And cereal... And cottage cheese...
ReplyDeleteGirl,we should share a dorm. We'd complement one another perfectly. ;)
Sounds like a plan! Distance could be a problem, though :P
DeleteI love veggie burgers that are more vegetable-y than fake meat-y. Sunshine burgers are my current fave since they're basically just beans, seeds and veggies.
ReplyDeleteWhole Foods is my addiction. I go there every other week to stock up on the essentials and it is crazy expensive, but so worth it. Maybe I'll think otherwise when I'm the one buying it week after week ;)
Oh, Sunshine burgers sound good, too!
DeleteI LOVE Dr. Praegers! Seriously. I'm addicted. haha. I can hardly eat other veggie burgers anymore because they're too "meaty" tasting and I'd much rather avoid the extra soy. Plus, getting in some extra veggies never hurt!
ReplyDeleteWhole Foods regularly consumes my entire paychecks. It's a problem...but, I can't help it! (:
*Sigh* guilty pleasures
DeleteThanks for stopping my blog. So glad you did, so I could find yours. Your WIAW eats looks delicious. Sometimes I really wish I could live in the US so I'd be able to buy cool foods like you and so many other bloggers. Might have to study there one day ;)
ReplyDeleteBe an au pair! Or study abroad! Whenever I'm here for long, I miss the yummy German food. Whenever I'm there for long, I miss the yummy US food. I need to figure out some way to be here half of the time and there half of the time! Ideally, a month in each place, then switch. :P
DeleteI haven't tried chia seeds yet, even though I have heard so much about them. I am impressed with your eating. When I was in university, I wasn't into healthy eating yet. The stuff I ate on campus! Ewww.
ReplyDeleteHaha, I eat some pretty questionable stuff sometimes do (fried oreos, anyone?) but I like to aim for a balance. I just feel my best that way! I'd also recommend them - I really like chia seeds!
