A Healthier Chocolate Choice with Plamil!
Posted by Living, Learning, Eating at 6:00 AM
I'm half-German, so I'm bound by loyalty to maintain that German chocolate is The Best (and because it is) but Plamil Chocolates from England offer some stiff competition! Beyond taste (excellent) and mouth feel (creamy-licious), Plamil Chocolates offer options that fit a lot more ways of eating than the candy traditionally does!
Whether you're vegan, dairy-free, nut-free, low-sugar, or even sugar-free, their no sugar added bars are a delicious choice!
The bars come in a variety of flavors, from plain dark chocolate, to mint-flavored dark chocolate, to a strawberry-flavored milk chocolate alternative, to my personal favorite, dark chocolate mint.
The chocolate is creamy, not chalky, even after transatlantic shipping to reach me in NYC (they ship worldwide and the bars can be ordered directly from their website). The flavors taste authentic, not artificial.
I was very pleasantly surprised to find that to be true for even the very creamy strawberry-flavored 'milk' chocolate bar. Strawberry-flavored chocolates, or any fruit-flavored chocolates, can easily go off into the chemical-tasting end of things, but this bar didn't go that way at all!
Speaking of chemicals, here's the part that will make your inner health nut happy: not only are the bars free of added sugars, but they're also sweetened only with xylitol, a healthy plant-based sweetener, and not with aspartame, sucralose, or any of a number of other artificial sweeteners that have been linked to negative health outcomes. Win!
Treat yo' self! (Who else is only sad about the end of Parks & Recreation because of the loss of that great comedic character?)
