Nutritious Dessert: Tiramisu the Healthy Way!

I participated in an Event and Blogger Activation on behalf of Influence Central for Dannon. I received product samples to facilitate my review as well as a promotional item to thank me for my participation. All views and opinions are my own, and do not necessarily represent those of Dannon.

Bikinis and beaches. Barbecues and brats. For many of us, summer is associated with a lot of great sensory experiences. But one thing that we tend not to associate with summer is dairy!

But with cows producing more bone-strengthening milk in the summer months than the rest of the year and the average American already only consuming 52% of the recommended 3-4 servings of dairy daily, we shouldn't neglect it just because the sun is out! That's how June as National Dairy Month came about.

Many of us, myself included, purposely avoid much dairy because of the associated digestive upset from lactose intolerance.

Yogurt, however, contains live active cultures that help produce lactase in our bodies to digest the lactose in the yogurt. So even if you're like me and just a slice of stomach makes your stomach roll, you might find that yogurt doesn't bother you at all!

If you're really worried, rich for protein-rich Greek yogurt. The same straining process that makes it so good for us removes some of the yogurt's lactose, making it a lower lactose option than regular yogurt.

Dannon's *Limited Edition* Light & Fit Greek Tiramisu
But here's the best part - with Dannon Light & Fit greek yogurt dessert flavors, your daily Greek yogurt can serve not only as a nutritious snack, but also a creamy, indulgent dessert that's low in sugar, free of fat, and perfect for a sweet treat that you can feel good about eating!

A nutritionist from Dannon and a nutritionist from Stop & Shop hosted me for an educational morning in a suburban Massachusetts Stop & Shop store, to celebrate the launch of *limited edition* Dannon Light & Fit Greek Tiramisu.

The limited edition flavor is only available at Stop & Shop stores and only for three months, so the timing is perfect to keep us satisfied and healthy all through bikini season! Forget about choosing between nutritious and delicious, with Dannon Light & Fit Greek Tiramisu you get both.

If you read my blog regularly and/or follow me on Instagram you already know that I'm spending a month in Boston before I fly off to Germany to continue to my summer of travel.

Tiramisu is the perfect flavor for Boston - 70% of Boston moms said they would eat Tiramisu every night if they could - and there's no wonder why. It's a customer-submitted flavor by a Massachusetts Dannon fan. Thanks to her, we all really can eat Tiramisu (Greek yogurt) every night without any of the unpleasant effects of overindulgence!

The yogurt tastes just like Tiramisu, is perfectly creamy, and is the perfect amount of sweet. Unlike some low-sugar yogurts, there's no weird chemical aftertaste. Yay!

If you're like 85% of Boston moms and want to eat healthier, you'll love this protein-packed 80 calorie treat! Want to make it even healthier? Pair your yogurt with any of these healthy foods that the nutritionists pointed out to me during our calcium-focused tour of Stop & Shop!

Top your yogurt with berries.

Calcium is a mineral comes from the ground, so plants contain calcium, too! Deeply colored berries, especially raspberries and blackberries, are rich in calcium, as well as satiating fiber and a host of other great-for-you nutrients!

Dannon Light & Fit Greek Tiramisu pairs well with any berries, but I like it best with strawberries. It would be indistinguishable from any other indulgent dessert if you served it in a pretty dessert dish!

Pair it with some exotic fruit.

You'll stay full longer and get more nutrition out of your snack! Stop & Shop has introduced an exotic fruits section near the front of the store and the cool, unfamiliar fruits will make healthy snacking fun for kids and adults alike.

I finally found lychees! I've been wanting to try them for a long time, so I was thrilled.

Reach for dried fruits and nuts as a topping.

Again, you'll get extra nutrients and more filling fiber and protein. It's also absolutely delicious!

Personally, I love pairing any fruit (that I've tried so far) with the new Tiramisu flavor.

I'm sad that it's a limited edition flavor, because it's just so delicious! But Dannon is a company that really listens to our consumers, so if we all write in *hint, hint, wink, wink* and beg them to make it a regular flavor, they just might...

Dannon Light & Fit Greek Tiramisu is a great healthy option for us, but the health of our communities is important, too! That's why Stop & Shop is hosting a milk drive this month.

Milk is the resource that food drives have the most difficulty getting, so we're all encouraged to donate $4 at checkout this month to buy a gallon of milk.

We all need help sometimes, so those of us who are able to put food on our tables and keep milk in our fridges should do our part to help those who are having difficulty doing so at the moment.

Let's keep ourselves and our communities healthy this month!

What are your favorite calcium sources?

What is your favorite dessert?
