The Farmer's Market, Delivered: Eating Local with Peapod

I've long been a fan of Peapod for grocery delivery when life gets crazy. The service allows you to order all of your normal groceries at normal grocery store prices and have them delivered straight to your front door, so that a busy schedule doesn't mean you have to turn to fast food and eating out every night!

Peapod has recently debuted something incredible - the Peapod Local Farm Box! While Peapod brought the grocery store to you (and still does), the Peapod Local Farm Box brings the farmer's market home to you!

The Peapod Local Farm Box is available in New England, the Mid-Atlantic, and the Midwest. It includes an assortment of local farm-fresh produce that changes weekly to feature whatever is seasonal and fresh! That means you get the freshest, most nutrient-rich produce delivered straight to you every week, and you have built-in variety of vegetables and nutrients.

They claim that no one is fresher and I believe them. There wasn't a single wilted or overripe piece of produce in my box. Everything looked, and tasted, delicious!

The week that I tried featured eggplant, tomatoes, okra, corn, mixed peppers, and onion.

I hadn't had corn on the cob in a while and it was great to boil up these sweet ears to enjoy outside with friends during some of the last warm days of summer!

I made okra chips of the okra, used the peppers as a pizza topping, and much a yummy roasted veggie mix of the eggplants, tomatoes, and onions.

It made a ton, so I froze the leftovers and will be enjoying this colorful and delicious side for a long time to come!

But what if you don't know what to do with the particular combination of vegetables that you receive in your box? Don't worry, they have you covered! Each box comes with a healthy, delicious, plant-based recipe featuring the farm-fresh ingredients in your box.

All in all, I much prefer this to committing to a seasonal CSA for the following reasons:

* This is commitment-free, so you can just order one box at a time when you want it!

* You can have it delivered anytime that you can have Peapod delivered, so it's not like a CSA where you only get fresh veggies on, say, Tuesday. You can have them any day of the week!

* You can see the box's contents before you order, so you don't get stuck paying for a box full of vegetables that you aren't excited about.

* At $34.99 per box, it's more affordable for the (generous) amount of vegetables that you get than many CSAs or, at the least, competitive.

I'm definitely a new fan of the Peapod Local Farm Box and recommend it to anyone who is looking for a more convenient, time-effective way to eat local!
