It's easy for a weekend (or even a long weekend) to fly by before we even really realized that it arrived. Here are some fun ways to make the most of this long weekend and really enjoy it!
Have at least one cozy evening in with a book and a movie.
This can be lovely with a loved one or a good friend, or all by yourself. We all need some tranquility and it's important not to skip unwinding over the weekend. That way, we're all rested for the new week!
Do something fun and active.
It doesn't matter if it's a new exercise class, a refreshing walk in the cold, a favorite sport, or a day on the slopes.
Getting our blood pumping gives us endorphins for happiness, improves our fitness (and immune systems, to withstand colds from all the nasty bugs at work and on the subway), and (contrary to expectation) raises our energy levels in both the (relatively) short and the long run!
Call a family member or catch up with a friend you haven't seen in a while.
Humans are social animals and sometimes there's just nothing that can beat strengthening old connections and talking about anything, or nothing, with someone you love. Even when it means re-hearing that story you've heard a million times.
It is, really!
Have a special meal.
I choose brunch, because breakfast/brunch is (by far) my favorite meal of the day. But any meal goes!
Whether you're going out to an old favorite, trying a new cafe, or making your meal yourself, taking the time to enjoy something you really like for a meal (bonus points if you're sharing the meal with great company) is definitely worth taking an hour or two our of your weekend!
