Style Post: Cold Shoulders and Flowery LBDs

I am 100% a winter person. If it could snow every day from December 1 through February 28 every year, I would so be down. I'd also be very, very down for it never getting over 75 degrees Fahrenheit, max, in the summer. Heat and I just don't go together.

That said, my favorite clothing style is definitely warm weather fashion. Ironic, right? It's not like I don't love slouchy sweaters and high socks, but summer dresses are just so fun and dreamy and perfect for frolicking about in!

Beautiful mixed girl dress

I have some summer dresses that date back to my college years (and that's... a while... ago), but I also love to get at least a few new summer dresses every year. It's fun to update your look and try something new, even if you still like the old dresses!

And I never hesitate to mix in some old favorites, like these sandals - I've had them for three or four years and, before that, they belonged to my favorite German cousin (she knows who she is).

My earrings are also an old favorite! I got them almost 4.5 years ago now and they're absolutely gorgeous garnet studs. They're my first-ever Valentine's Day gift from my first-ever boyfriend (wonderful guy, but not my current boyfriend) and they're still my favorite piece of jewelry that I own, hands down.

Wouldn't this be the perfect place to insert a photo of said drop-dead-gorgeous earrings?

Choker necklace review

It was a total facepalm moment when I started typing up this blog post and realized that my hair is hiding the beautiful earrings in the detail shot I took to show you said earrings! 🙈

Total blogger fail. Sigh.

Anyway, you'll just have to take my word for it that they're gorgeous. Maybe I'll use them in another outfit post soon and then you can see what I'm talking about!

Anyway, back to what I do have photos of:

ASOS summer dress review

The dress. I found this dress, from the brand Parisian, on ASOS in the sale section. Who doesn't love a great sale? I can't remember exact prices, but there was a significant markdown - my mom would have been proud. It was something like $30-40, down from $70-80. *Insert proud tears here.*

Ordering was super easy (aka I could do it in my jammies with Scandal on in the background - online shopping is life) and delivery was straight forward, too. It took a little over a week and while shipping wasn't free, it wasn't obscene.

I liked that they took care with delivery, wrapping it in tissue paper, so that it arrived ready-to-wear and I didn't have to iron it first. Some bargain sites can be the worst about caring for their products in transit, but ASOS didn't drop the ball!

Smiling cute girl fashion

That's a thanks-for-shipping-like-a-reasonable-person smile. Thanks, ASOS!

I ordered a size 4, which is my usual size for dresses (either 2 or 4) and would say that it fits true to size. I'm 5'4.5" (always count that half an inch) and wear a 30DD bra, if that helps you figure out what size would be right for you.

Cute Girl Summer Fashion

It's really bust measurement that matters in this kind of dress, since it's pretty free falling below that.

There's a solid black layer under the mesh, which is great since the mesh is (a) see-through and (b) would probably be scratchy on a girl's ~~sensitive~~ bits.

Cold Shoulder Dress Review

As it's designed, it's super comfortable to wear and stays up without a problem. Even reaching my arms up in the air, jumping up and down with joy (as one does), etc. didn't threaten to expose me in the slightest.

I'll be wearing this dress all summer long. I love it!

  1. This is wonderful! That dress is adorable and it really suits your personality. You just sparkle out in the sun in such a fun outfit. I'm sorry we missed the earrings, but that is still a beautiful shot of your incredible profile, and the detail of the necklace is great.

As to your question, I am a jeans and tees person, and most of my shopping is in thrift stores. The bargains are irresistible .My last trip I found a pair of DL1961 jeans for $10!

    1. Thank you! Summer dresses just feel like me. I love the jeans and tees look (and what a deal you found) but I don’t wear it much - I don’t think I own a single pair of jeans at the moment!
