25 Years, 25 Lessons

The Boy recently made me aware that it was my half birthday. In honor of being halfway through 25 (a bit more than halfway by now), I'm taking a moment to look back.

Here are 25 lessons I've learned in the last 25 years. There's no particular order and some are pretty random, but I hope you learn something and/or are amused!

25 Lessons of 25

1. The ocean is my happy place.

Beautiful Mixed Girl

2. Relationships are what's most important.

3. You can't please everyone.

4. Never use regular dish detergent in the dishwasher.

5. Roommate compatibility is key.

6. Hot water + turmeric + honey = delicious, spicy, soothing drink. Try it and thank me!

7. There's something lovable in everyone.

Natural Beauty

8. You don't owe anyone affection.

9. You don't have to give everyone a shot.

10. Always being kind always feels better.

11. There can be a difference between being kind and being nice. The latter is easier, the former is better.

12. Night moisturizers are a thing. A good thing. Do it, and moisturize 24/7.

13. Don't shampoo your hair every day if you have curly hair! I cringe so hard at young me.

Beach style

14. There are magical laundry sheets you can throw in the wash that let you mix colors without having the colors all blend together.

15. It's okay to care about silly things.

16. It's okay to be unusual, just be you!

17. Envy apples taste like manna from the heavens.

18. Aldi owns Trader Joe's! For this half-German girl, mind = blown.

19. You enjoy things more when you're in the moment and not worried about achieving some specific outcome.

20. You can't do everything: focus.

21. Needing 'me time' (which I need plenty of, as an introvert) is a totally acceptable reason to turn down social invitations. Self care is important!

22. I just can't get into meditation, but yoga and baking fill that need for me.

Black and white girl

23. Being the best is not the point of life and it won't make you happy.

24. Don't pull your shoulders up when you're taking photos.

25. If you roll your clothes into logs, you can fit more clothes into your suitcase.
