5 Best Things About It Not Being A Leap Year

Leap Years only happen every fourth year, so they get all the love. While 2014 might not be a leap year, however, it can still be pretty awesome!

Here are five great things about 2014 (or, specifically, about 2014 not being a leap year).

1) My birthday comes one day sooner.

Whoot for all March babies!

2) Graduation comes one day sooner.

I don't actually know much about how academic calendars work behind the scenes, so this might not actually be true. Maybe it's a number of days versus a what day kind of thing.

Ah well. We can at least pretend that this one is true, yes? And that the post-graduation world isn't a scary world full of uncertain success and certain poverty?

Kidding, I'm not actually that macabre.

3) The 28 of February falls on a Friday, so March 1 will fall on a Saturday!

I think starting on a Saturday must be a good omen for a month.

4) You don't work an extra day for free, if you're on a fixed annual wage.

Again, I'm not really sure how work days/calendars work, since I am (happily) still a student, but it sounds like a nice benefit if it is true.

5) Christmas comes a day sooner!

Though I have to admit that, even for me, it might be just a tad bit too early to start the Christmas 2014 countdown.

What's the best thing that has happened to you this month?

Do you have any big things coming up before the end of February?

Do you know any leap year babies?

Some of the Best Michelle Obama Looks

Michelle Obama does tons of important things and is involved in tons of important efforts to do even more important things.

But this isn't about that.

Let's be frivolous for a moment and think about how fabulous she looks doing these important things, shall we?

Sorry, Bo, our eyes are on the skirt. Then on the rest of the dress, then the shoes, then Michelle, and then Michelle's famous arms. The President isn't even on our register when he's standing next to an outfit like that.

I just love the fullness of that skirt, it goes perfectly withe the length (as well as with the more revealing top) and the heels are the perfect finishing touch.

All that I have to say to this is that Jason Wu is genius.

I don't even like green dresses. How is this almost my favorite thing that she's ever worn?

It's a perfect dress for a Christmas ball, just perfect.

Just try to tell me she isn't the best dressed in the photo - just try.

It's also not a coincidence that all of my favorites are dresses.

I love dresses. Michelle Obama has the sense to wear them often. Have I mentioned that she's pretty cool?

Which politician do you think is the best dressed?

Who's wardrobe would like to have (politician or not)?

What's your least favorite color to wear?

Edy's Slow Churned - Creamy and Delicious

Oddly enough, I enjoy ice cream more in the colder months than in the hot summer months. I'm not quite sure why (and it's not as if I don't enjoy ice cream in the summer - I always enjoy ice cream) but it's a personal trend that's been around for as long as I can remember.

Anyway, as such I've been reviewing a lot of ice cream lately. But even now that their Loaded line is long retired (I'm still grieving the loss of my favorite ice creams ever), no ice cream review series would be complete without Edy's.

Loaded is gone, but they still have their Grand and Slow Churned (which includes some frozen yogurt blends!) ice cream lines and their fruit bars.

But I'm into the creamy stuff, so I passed the fruit bars (popsicles made with real fruit) for the Slow Churned ice cream, which promises a super creamy base.

I tried Slow Churned Yogurt Blends Caramel Praline Crunch and had really high hopes - Edy's is, in general, one of the creamier brands of ice cream and caramel praline crunch is one of my favorite ice cream flavors (followed closely by Oreo/Cookies-n-Cream, then Cookie Dough).

It's SO YUMMY and, while it's not as loaded as Loaded was, there are still a lot of mix-ins in there - more than a lot of other brands; they certainly don't skimp on the caramel and praline cookie bits!

Since I like a ton of textures and flavors in my ice cream, though, I ate it with flax seeds and cinnamon. YUM.

But it really didn't need it. Now that Loaded is gone, this is my favorite ice cream!

The base is beyond creamy, it's perfectly sweet, the praline bits are crunchy and perfect (not stale at all, unlike the Baskin Robbins Pralines 'n Cream flavor - I do not recommend that one) and the caramel is ooey, gooey perfection.

But who knows, maybe they'll bring Loaded back some day? We ought to start a petition!

I've obviously been at Harvard too long. The student body enjoys petitioning pretty much anything :P

What are your favorite and least favorite brands of ice cream?

Did you get to try Edy's Loaded before it was discontinued?

Have you ever joined a petition?
